“The Paramedic Heretic”
We have sadly progressed (read – deteriorated) to the point in these United States where the National Insurance Crime Bureau (located on the web under NICB.org) sees fit to distribute full-color brochures on how to keep an eye out for bad doctors. Focusing on employees injured on the job and in need of treatment, these brochures assist the workers in identifying and sidestepping medical scammers who rake in millions by taking advantage of the Workers’ Compensation system. These organized crime groups committing health care fraud are referred to as “Medical Mills.” And they have become so widespread that 60 Minutes recently did an investigative piece on them.
A recent U. S. Government flyer, entitled Fraud Solutions Now, details such swindles as the “doctor-lawyer conspiracy”; the “inflation of billing charges by clinics deliberately miscoding diagnoses”; and “bogus treatment claims by greedy physicians.”
You know, like hooligan collision repair shops do.
The NICB posts an anonymous Hotline for those who suspect medical fraud:
The NICB also offers monetary rewards to whistleblowers for valid information on doctor crooks.
Just makes you proud to be an American, doesn’t it?
